Established in 1864, our principle activities originally centered around the direct importation, processing and supply of shellac, a product now used primarily as a glazing agent for coating purposes on citrus fruits, confectionery and tablets. Over the years Thew Arnott gradually expanded its product portfolio and we now stock and supply a very wide range of ingredients and raw materials.
As a result of a disastrous fire in December 1986, new modern office and
warehouse premises were built on the existing Wallington site to the company's
own specification which led to improved efficiency and, since 1994, ISO9001:2008
accreditation.

An in-house lecithin blending and decanting facility was commissioned in 2002 at our Wallington premises that has since been certified to the Cert ID non-GMO traceability programme. An in-house laboratory enables us to provide analytical testing and matching facilities for a wide range of products.
The company acquired a 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse and office unit in Deeside in 2007. This facility now contains a modern lecithin blending plant in addition to storage facilities for around 1,500 pallets. It has
ISO9001:2008 accreditation and in August 2008 it received the highest level
certification (Grade A) of the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard
for Food Safety (Issue 5) for the processing, storage and distribution of
lecithin and lecithin blends as well as the Cert-ID Non-GMO Standard for
Traceability and Identity Preservation. All the products that are processed
and blended at this plant follow strict procedures that accord with the
principles of HACCP.
Over the past few years several new principals have appointed Thew Arnott
as their UK representative and this has increased the company's visibility and profile in
the market. This expansion encouraged us to participate in our first international exhibition
in October 2007 with a 90m2 stand at Food Ingredients Europe.
